Driscoll Jr. Globe Staff DUBLIN, N.H.-Benjamin Holt Ticknor 2d, a Harvard football immortal who made the All America team two years in a row a half century ago, died yesterday at Monadnock Hospital, Peterborough. He was 70.

A retired business executive, he had been president of the Industrial Molasses Corp. Leonia, N.J., and was widelyknown and respected for his work in the field of rehabilitation of alcoholics in recent years, particularly in New Hampshire. He had moved to Dublin from New Jersey 10 years ago after retirement from business. He and his wife, Marcia (Siller) Ticknor, operated an inn known as "The Guest House" on the new Harrisville road since 1970. In addition to working with alcoholics in the Granite State.

the big-framed 6 ft. 2 executive pursued studies on alcholism and its related problems at Rutgers University. A direct descendant of William Ticknor, the 19th century Boston publisher of Ticknor and Fields fame, Mr. Ticknor was born in Canton, Jan. 8, 1909, the son of William Davis and Ella (Wattles) Ticknor.

At Harvard, he and his older brother, the late William (Bill) Ticknor were teammates on the varsity football team. Ben played center and B.11 played tackle and guard. In addition to being All America and captain of the football team Mr. Ticknor was class president and chief marshal at Harvard's baccalaureate services. After graduation he went into business with his father, who was president of the Commercial Solvents New York.

Elected to the Football Hall of Fame, Mr. Ticknor held memberships in many athletic groups and for a time in the 1930s was on Harvard's football coaching staff. Mr. Ticknor leaves his wife, Marcia; four sons by his first wife (the former Barbara Farmer), Benjamin H. 3d of New Haven, H.

Malcolm of Concord, Thomas B. of Englewood, N.J., and Michael C. of Worthington, a son George C. of Cambridge, by his second wife (the former Gloria Kelly); and 10 grandchildren. A memorial service will be conducted in Dublin Community Church at 3 p.m.
